Lehua blossom is the official flower of the Big Island, which is a favored island of the Hawaiian islands. Like Plumeria, this one is also used in leis. One flower that is certain to catch your eye when on a trip to the beautiful Hawaiian Islands is the yellow hibiscus. The official Hawaii state flower since the 1920's, the hibiscus is claimed to represent the tradition of the people of Hawaii. Local people of Hawaii refer to this flower as the Pua aloalo. The yellow hibiscus is a huge flower with massive petals and comes in hues of purple and red, though it is the yellow bloom which has been chosen as the primary flower of Hawaii. Other than the beautiful shape of the petals, the flower is also famous for its alluring fragrance which personifies the exotica of the islands. Apart from the attractive shape of the petals, this bloom is also renowned for its magnificent scent, which again is quite Hawaiian in feel. Apart from the previously mentioned flowers, there are many blooms as well that are related to the Hawaiian islands. Some such flowers include ginger, Heliconias, Antirrhinums and Orchids. Each of these blooms come in bright and decorative colors and have an exotic appeal to them. To add on, each of the islands in Hawaii has it's own state flower. Make sure that you know about the same when you're heading to any of the Hawaiian islands.
